Pastor's Bio
Rev. Dr. Marva L.Gordon, Ph.D, has been in the ministry since June,
1987. In 1999, she entered a five year training program and, was
ordained an Itinerant Elder on August 31,2003. Her ordination took
place in The Colorado Conference, of the Fifth Episcopal
District.,Denver, Colorado.
Dr. Gordon received her doctorate degree from St. John's University,
Queens, New York in 1983. After receiving her Ph.D, she became Board
Certified as a Medical Sociolgist. Pastor Gordon is also a Registered
Professional Nurse, whose specialty areas are, family practice and
administration.She has been in academia since 1975, City University of
New York, Brooklyn College.She has been a Clinical Professor at Case
Western Reserve University, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing,
Cleveland ,Ohio. Cleveland State University and Youngstown University
in Youngstown, Ohio. Dr. Gordon is presently an Adjunct Associate
Professor for the College of Nursing, at the University of Arizona
Health Science Center, Tucson, Arizona.
Pastor Gordon has received numerous Appreciation Certificates and
Recognition Plaques from the Office of the Mayor in Tucson, for her
visionary leadership and tenacity in coordinating human service needs
within the greater Tucson community,from a health,business, and,
educational perspective.. On June 3,2004, Dr. Gordon received the
prestigious Presidential Award from The City University of New York,
College of Technology for her dedicated years of commitment and,
involvement in community and student activism. Dr. Gordon has also
received awards for her chairing national and inter-national clinical
conferences in nursing. As an Citizen's Ambassador to China, Japan,
Hong Kong and, Mongolia , Dr. Gordon has not only led discussion
groups in research, administration and the nursing sciences, she has
published over twenty articles in the newspapers, journals and books.
Pastor Gordon has also won writing and speaking awards. She has edited
and published three books. Chemical Dependency: Out Of Control in
April,1987. A Sharing Of Nursing Interest in 1988.The newest published
book is," The Satiable Quest: A Guiding Source For Sound Reasoning."
